NOTD: Pacific Blue

Today my friend told me to paint my pinky finger blue because it symbolizes that you're against bullying. Since I've never worn Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail color in Pacific Blue I decided to paint all my nails blue. I own too much blue nail polish but this is unlike any color that I own. I am seriously in love with this color! It's a bright periwinkle blue. It's definitely not a fall color but it's beautiful! I'd wear it all year round.

Many youtubers and bloggers rave about this color, it's usually sold out at the drugstore and now I know why. The formula is amazing! It's really thick. One coat is enough for it to be perfectly opaque. I can't any anything bad about this nail polish. If you see it I suggest that you grab it. These nail polishes are never more than $5. I paid $4.49 at Shopper's Drug Mart. It often goes on sale and you can find it at any drugstore. I'd that the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish is the best drugstore brand of nail polish. (I consider Essie to be high end even though you can find it at the drugstore.)

The only downside to this nail polish is that it chips easily.

Random thoughts  news  freak out of the day: I'm freaking out because Luke Conard will be touring with Alex Goot in November, and they're coming to my city, and Ingrid is coming too! My bestie is friends with one of the bands that's opening for him and is getting us tickets. And the concert is right after both of our birthdays. :D

NOTD: Essie No More Film

I got this nail polish back in March at a store called Beauty 35 in New York City. The reason why I bought it in New York was because it was cheaper. I think I paid $5.29 which is really good because here it ranges from $7.99-$11.99 depending where you go. I'm saying this to let you know that if you happen to be in New York I suggest that you go to Beauty 35. It's on 8th & 35th. It was part of Essie's 2012 Resort collection. I think it's limited edition but I'm not entirely sure. Anyways Essie  describes this colour as " a creamy, seductive deep violet." It's a really dark purple. It's very purple, almost blue. I don't know why it was in a Spring collection because it's so dark. I think it's a good colour for Fall because of it's darkness.

This photo is really random but I took it like this so that you can see the what the colour really looks like. The formula is very thick, probably the thickest Essie polish I've ever seen. It's also very creamy and opaque. Since the formula is so thick one coat is enough for maximum opacity. I guess you could do 2 coats if you want. When wearing this polish I always put on only one coat.
Random thought of the day: I'm obsessed with Anthem Lights.

NOTD: Every Month is Oktoberfest

My nail polish obsession continues with OPI's Every Month is Oktoberfest from their Germany collection. How I got this polish is quite a story. I was originally drawn to it the first time I saw the collection in stores about a month ago and I didn't buy it right away. I went back a week later and it was sold old. I went to 4 different stores to try to find this colour and it was sold out everywhere. I had accepted the fact that I would never be able to get my hands on this polish when last Thursday I went to Winners (Canadian version of Marshalls/TJ Maxx.) and it was there. I took advantage of the fact that it was there and it cost less than what you'd pay at the beauty shops. Instead of $9.99 which is what it typically costs here it was $7.99.

OPI describes this colour as the perfect plum. I'm not really sure what to call it because it has many different colours mixed into it with a purple undertone. When I look at my nails I hints of burgundy, purple and micro glitter. I am in love with this colour and I'll be wearing it a lot this season. In this photo the colour looks way darker than it does in person. I like to use natural light when taking pictures. I tried to get a picture with flash but that made it look worse. My advice is that you should see this colour in person if you can get your hands on it. If you find it at Winners definitely grab it.

The formula is pretty thick and one coat would be enough but I always put on two coats of polish just to make it look perfect. If you're not a perfectionist like me you can get away with one coat.

NOTD: Essie Plumberry

Today's NOTD is yet another Essie polish. Can you tell I'm obsessed with this brand? lol. I bought this colour last fall. The name just sounds like fall to me. It's a really nice red. Essie describes it as "a creamy berry red with hints of plush pink." I like it because it's in between a red and a fuchsia. It's way more red in person. The colour changes in different lighting. Sometimes it looks very red and other times it has a pinky tint to it.

The formula is very creamy and thick. Minimal effort is involved for an opaque finish. You might be able to get away with one coat but I think 2 coats is always better. If you want a shade lighter and brighter than the burgundy colours that are hot for fall you should definitely try this one.

Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys Book Review

Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan BoysMegan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys by Kate Brian
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Megan's an army brat. She's been moving around her whole life because of her parents' careers. When her parents tell her they're moving to Korea she doesn't want to go. Her parents let her stay in the with old family friends the McGowans. One problem John and Regine McGowan have 7 sons. The last time Megan saw the McGowen boys they were icky and gross. Now they've become Abercrombie gods. What happens when you stick a girl in a house with 7 boys? Total chaos.

This was such a fun read. I'd highly recommend it.
